Bachelor's Admission Requirements:

To enter a bachelor's degree program, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years of age and be employed. If you are not employed, you must have access to an organizational environment that allows you to apply the concepts you learn in our courses.

As part of your admission, your prior coursework, elective classes, major studies and credits awarded through the Assessment of Prior Learning or the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) will be considered for academic credit. If you have had professional training or have served in the military, you may be able to convert previous experience into academic credits.

Additional bachelor's program requirements are:

Nursing:

  • Valid RN license for RN to BSN candidates
  • 1 year of full-time work experience in the health care field
  • A minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Liability insurance of $1,000,000/occurance

Master's Admission Requirements

To be considered for master's degree program, you must be employed or have access to an organizational environment that allows you to apply the concepts you learn in our courses. In addition, you will need an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or one that is a candidate for accreditation. A comparable degree from a recognized institution outside of the United States is also acceptable. University of Phoenix requires you to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and at least three years of significant work experience.

Additional master's program requirements are:

Nursing:
  • Valid RN license
  • 3 year of full-time work experience in the health care field
  • Liability insurance of $1,000,000/occurance
  • Upper division major in nursing
Education:
  • Prior instructional experience for candidates of the Curriculum and Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, and Administration and Supervision degree programs
  • Current regional policies prohibit the Administration and Supervision degree program, the Special Education program, the Early Childhood Education program, and the Elementary/Secondary Teacher Education programs from accepting residents in Canada and the U.S. states Delaware, Indiana, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Arkansas.

Doctoral Admission Requirements

The University of Phoenix Online doctoral program requires you to be employed and have at least three years of full-time professional work experience, including supervisory or managerial experience. You will need a master's degree from a regionally accredited college, university, or one that is a candidate for accreditation, and you must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. In addition, you must be able to fulfill a residency requirement of eight days in year one, three days in year two, and eight days in year three.

Application Process

Since every student is unique and has different needs, University of Phoenix Online assigns an experienced Admissions Counselor to work closely with you to streamline the process of returning to school.

If you would like to attend University of Phoenix Online, simply complete our Information Request Form. An Admissions Counselor will then provide you with an information packet and answer all your questions regarding programs, start dates and the application process.

You will receive your Admissions Counselor assignment online, by phone or by e-mail, depending on how you contact us. Application materials and financial aid forms are provided after an informal interview with your advisor. After receiving your application and fees, your Admissions Counselor, will process your application, ship your software, help you order your textbooks and course materials, and get you into class.

International Students

In keeping with our philosophy that an effective business education must be global in scope, we encourage the participation of qualified international students in our programs. All of our classes are taught in English and require proficiency in English. The TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS examination are required of applicants whose native language is not English. The TOEFL is given in both a computer-based and paper-based format. The applicant must have a minimum TOEFL score of 213 computer-based or 550 paper-based.

All academic records from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by the evaluation service approved by University of Phoenix. The evaluation services follow standards approved by the National Council on the Evaluation of Foreign Credentials. If the academic records are in another language, a certified English translation is required. The University will accept translations from the issuing institution or an official translation service.
